Looking to make my first fishing trip. Im thinking Grenada area. The only time I have available is the end of this month. I wanted to see what you all had to say about timing, motels, bait shops, etc. I would rather go mid march but like I said my days are limited. Any and all advice is appreciated

If you're looking to staying at any of the state parks at Grenada, Enid or
Sardis, you might be out of luck. But like Steve said, check with the guys on the
board. You may also want to give John Beshears (Rees Guide on CDC) a call and talk
to him. He writes for the local paper in Grenada and also guides, job permitting.
Best of luck! Tight Lines - Dave

I'll 2nd getting in contact with John .... He guides part time and fishes crappie tournaments on all those lakes down there. You would be a LOT more productive by having him guide you a day no matter which lake you go to. John and one of his friends gave us their left over minnows and I managed to keep them alive and had enough for the whole time we were there.
He gives us Yankees help because he appreciates use bringing money into their economy... Wife and I spent a couple weeks down there late last fall and everyone is very friendly ....I wouldn't mind getting out of Illinois and moving down there.

I can't help you with Motels .... The corps camp grounds are very good as well as the state camp ground at Grenada. I prefer the corps ones because of the great deal they are for seniors...

Birdman can probably help with info about the best bait shops if he checks in. He is guiding down there also in the spring, but not til March.

Do not overlook Ross Barnett Reservoir, in Jackson MS a couple of hours further south of Sardis/Enid/Grenada. It's one of my favorites in the state and they are beginning to turn on down there.
