    Default Il River ? Hennepin area


    Any body do any good on the river by Hennepin. Are the backwater lakes along river accessible with boat? Looking to go somewhere within a hour of home. Looks promising on goggle earth but have no experience in this area.

    Fished the area near spring valley last week, caught alot of drum-sheephead, & one walleye , saw tons of carp on fish finder, very large moving objects on screen. Talked with several others only thing caught was a few catfish. Have not gone down to Hennepin in several years, I am told most of those lakes along river are either stacked with carp and most are silted in.
    I don't suffer from insanity; I enjoy every minute of it.....

    The Hennepin canal has some nice crappie catfish an bass.

    not this fall but last fall, i had pretty good luck between Henry and Lacon. fishing the back side of some of the islands and the barge piers. fish in the 13 inch range.
