    Default Lake Kincaid info

I am planning a trip down there to visit my nephew at SIU this weekend Oct. 12. Always wanted to fish Kinkaid. Fish report and any other information about the lake would be appreciated!

I like to put in at Paul Ice area because it's a little closer to the St. Louis area where I come from. Great lake ... some good deep water, not a whole lot of obstructions. You might try fishing the edges of any weed beds you can find ... we caught some there a couple of weeks ago. Used Bobby Garland black/green tails ... got most bites on them. Didn't try minnows. Go to Ill. Dept of conservation website, and you can check out where they've put some fish attractors. This time of year the crappie are usually moving in closer. Try some of the trees in various coves. Good luck!

They sell minnows and gas at the marina which is just around the corner of the lake from the Paul Ice ramps ... you can get to the marina in two minutes from Paul Ice by lake, but to drive all the way around is about 20 -25 minutes. Be careful if you put in at Paul Ice. The area to the left as you put in ( where an old bridge used to be ) is pretty shallow. Stay to the right. The marina has a website you can check or call. Oh, I forgot to tell you, DON'T try to put in at Ava ... it's silted in. I catch more fish from Paul Ice up to the cut through to Ava. As you get further up that way the lake is more like a river. The fishing is still okay, but I tend to catch more on the main lake/coves. Water is deeper as you get toward the dam ... found some 60 - 70 depths there. The area at Paul Ice is a no wake area.

I'll probably get some minnows and put in at the marina as I will be staying in Murphysboro. Can't get them to answer the phone at the marina! Come on Friday!

top of the hill bait shop is open. not a good count but a place to get bait. There is a place to the west of the lake but I don't know the name. Maybe franks or something like that.
Rend may be a good place to hit, been hearing a lot of stories
