    Default Clinton Lake

Headed to Clinton Lake this Wednesday through Sunday or a Club outing. Does anyone know the water conditions I was told the levels are down. Hoping to get on some Crappie we had a tough time at our spring outing.
Please leave the water cleaner than you found it we are only borrowing it from our kids and grand kids..

Fished Saturday with minimal luck. Couple white bass, a few bluegill, one LM bass, no keeper crappie. I tried fishing houseboat cove and a couple others. They just don't seem to be there yet.

I know clinton like the back of my hand. Since its a cooling lake most of the crappie are still probably in a summer pattern. The rip rap along dewitt bridge is always good. You should be able to find some blacknose crappie shallow. You got to beat the banks. Start shallow and work your way out to the ledges. They probably are staging waiting to move up on the banks. Try fishing at the mouth of the major coves. Houseboat is good start at the mouth and work your way back. Remember the water temps. That should dictate where to start.

The power plant is been offline since 3rd week of September. Main Lake laydowns 3-7ft deep pitch a jig and pendulum back to you.

We fished the lake hard for 4 days caught fish Bass White Bass Catfish but few Crappie to talk about. Tried everything you could think of They closed the dewitt bridge on the 10th so we only worked one side.We caught more Crappie tossing the bridge pilings at Dewitt than the rip rap. It was still a Good time with the Club we had 26 guys out for the weekend. Two of the guys fished the rip rap by the spillway in a 14' row boat 6hp motor and no electronics and they did better than anyone else they stayed on one spot all day and managed 10 keeper Crappie 2 days in a row and a kicker 18" Walleye the second day. Water was down about 3' nothing going over the spillway and no real movement. Water temps 72 sueface and I dropped a temp probe in 32 feet and it was 68 on the bottom. We'll be back again in Spring maybe we'll get em then.
