11/19/17 was just beautiful weather wise . very light north wind and about 38 at sunup with a little frost . so off I headed west at 4 am to my little slice of heaven and sat down in the dark . the deer started to move early and kept on all day ,saw my last buck at 2:30 pm and went to house after a fun filled day of ketchn fish and I even said what the heck at 9:30 am and let the rifle do some magic on a large doe way out there all alone by the fence line . and doe number 2 of the morning may never know how close she was to the bed of my truck as well .....LOL
don't seem to be seeing what I want rack wise or age wise and we are about out of ground meat and besides I just wanted to see if I still had it ....
she actually ran quite a ways with a high lung shot and I watched her travel back into the woods and told myself I saw what I saw and she has a pretty large 30 06 hole in her behind the shoulder so I imagine I wont be terrible tracking her .
dressed her down took her to the locker and went back to play in the ponds a bit . the crappie were surely playful and I lost one that was truly a PIG , but no worries I managed a few and let them swim on and made the rounds checking things in my truck before I left knowing the wind direction was about to change and make my sits not worth the time and I was pretty wore down as well . 2 of the 4 bucks I saw later in the day were out roaming here and there one about 1:30 and the last one when I left at 2:30 pm . I saw 4 bucks and 12 does and to be sure 12 is not always a lucky number ...
and let me add this , in those parts gut piles last for a very short time , hers was on the ground and 1.5 hours later it was gone ...
the birds were playing all morning and to top off a fun day when I cycled the rifle the spent shell landed right in my back pack !
here are some photos of what I heard someone refer to as ....Texas surf and turf ...
yes I know I missed church but I am in hopes the man upstairs understood and yes I said a few prayers to thank him for a wonderful day

p.s. I don't know why but about half way thru loading photos they got all out of order so sorry for the jump around on them ...
