Good fish, bad snake!
Since they quit making the cure , good for you it didn’t bite you , Texas coral snakes are more aggressive than easterns and have a tendency to get larger . Not to be messed with . On a side note it was likely in your yak and got it in at your storage area , as they rarely if ever get in the water .
Nice fish btw and congrats on surviving the close encounter
Nope. I store my yak in my garage and there are not coral snakes in my area. The snake slithered up the side of my kayak and made his way up the rod holder where I scared him off with a net and he went BACK INTO the water. I check my equipment and kayak every time I launch.
interesting it was in the water and I imagine it was looking for a place to get out . one thing for certain texas coral snakes are the one species of coral snakes that have been known to have a bad attitude and being the manufacturers of the antivenom cited a lack of profitability and quit making it around 2010 ,a bite from one could possibly be the last day on the planet for a person .
careful out there with those for sure and to be sure I am glad it chose to leave rather than retaliate .
