    Default New Crappie fisherman

I'm planning on going fishing this coming Saturday. I see the forecast as cloudy with 20% rain any suggestions on how to fish crappie in this condition.

Are you set up to longline? if so, I would be longlining flats out to 15 ft of water. If not you could try minnow/vertical jigging brush piles and blowdowns to find a fish

Yep, wear your rain gear! just kidding, it depends on the water temp, if it is in the 50's they probably won't be up shallow yet so I would fish 10 to 15 foot of water. Look for drop offs or contour lines and brush piles.

    Good luck!

Longlining is the gold standard in crappie fishing. Very good advice given. Lots of reading to get you started in search function at top of page. I think we are in a pattern right now between winter and spring where conditions change very quickly. Check messages daily and it will be a good guide to what is going on your chosen area.

I use to fish Ocmulgee a good bit, before it was drained and rebuilt. I haven't been since it reopened, but use to be a good bit of timber in the middle along the old creek bed and I caught some nice crappie vertical jigging in it.
