Default LAKE OCONEE REPORT TUESDAY 4/5

Today was my first trip on Lake Oconee since March 17. I launched at Old Salem and began fishing around 7:45 a.m. I fished three coves and caught fish in all of them but the bite was slow. By lunchtime I had 8 fish. I found most of the fish near the backs of the coves and caught them in 12-17 FOW. I long line trolled 10 rods with 1/16 oz jigs and the usual favorite curly tails (Acid Rain, Popsicle, Wildcat and Red/black). On some of my lines I used a 1/16 oz split shot and on others a 1/16 oz jig head with no split shot. I caught fish on both. I trolled 1-1.2 mph. The wind was a factor early but eased at bit by late afternoon. When the bite slowed in the back of the cove I moved to the mouth of the cove and had good fishing from 4:00-5:30. By the end of the day I had 20 fish in the live well that ranged in size from 10-13.5 inches. I worked hard for every one of them but it was an enjoyable day. The water temperature was 65 when I started and rose to 70 degrees in places. The pictures are of the back of my boat set up and a one eyed crappie.

Good job with pretty tough conditions.

Do you think that one-eyed crappie only saw 1/32 of that 1/16 oz jig?
