    Default Black CreekMiddleburg

Anybody here fish for crappie in Black Creek near Middleburg? I've heard there's a launch ramp for Black Creek in Middleburg but I can't seem to find it. Thanks.

The ramp is just east of the bridge on the south side of the creek. Bait shop is in a little marina next to it. There was a 2.8 pounder caught somewheres there last year under one of the docks. I've only launched there to go shrimpin I haven't fished in there

There is a boat ramp in the Lake Asbury area off Russell Road/CR 209. It comes up in google maps as Old Ferry Boat Ramp. There is also a public ramp in Middleburg on the North Fork and it should come up in google maps also. I used to live on Black Creek and I would typically fish from the train trestle inland to the forks. Always had my best days if I could get out a couple hours before a low pressure/rain front was moving. I would typically longline along the pads and downed trees. Very deep water-lots of structure to give up some hardware but there are specs to be had. GOOD LUCK!

I fish Black Creek a lot in the winter time. Any other time their is too much boat traffic. Their are 3 boat ramps on the creek. I have been fishing it all my life and it can be tough. It doesn't take much to shut the fish down. I have had good success before a front and I also look at major feed times. If you can get a major feed time in the morning troll along lilly pads and then deeper as sun comes up. Tide needs to be moving to. If the tide stops the fish stop bitting. Seem to do better on incoming tide. Longlinning is good but seem to catch bigger fish spider rigging. SWAMP FOX pm me if you want too.

Buddy of mine went yesterday and got skunked there, too many jet skis and boats made it pretty uncomfortable for him

The only time you can fish Black Creek and not get swamped by pleasure boaters, ski boats and jet skis is either to go early on a weekday morning or when its very cold out. I went last Thursday and Friday when it was cold in the morning and was all by myself. Once it warmed up though the creek was churning like a washing machine from all the boats.

6MM, thanks for the info about the boat traffic. I had not even considered that. I had a similar experience a few years back when I tried to fish Dunns Creek out of Georgia Boys Fish Camp. Being retired I can fish during the week so with some upcoming cold weather I may give it a try.

Black Creek boat traffic is about 10 times worse than Dunn's Creek. I'm not exaggerting, but like I said, if you go on a cold morning or during the weekday you will have it all to yourself and it is a beautiful and peacful place.
