I was out today too Steve, sorry we didn’t cross paths. I didn’t get very many either, but it sure beat watchin TV. Maybe next time.
I had no intentions of fishing this morning but it was gnawing at me from the time I got up, after talking myself into it I asked my bride if she wanted to go (knowing the answer would be "it's too cold") but to my astonishment she said yes! She doesn't fish but loves to be on the river. While she was getting ready I decided to take rods out of the boat to give more room and try to keep from getting any broke, took all but my spinning rod out and figured I would cast a jig under a cork.
We launched and headed to a spot I had in mind, second cast didn't fly right and something didn't sound right either, reeled in and on the third cast my favorite spinning rod broke about 14"-16" from the tip. Hmmm, not happy camper!!!! After a few words under my breath and feeling quite disgusted with the situation I cut the rod off to the next eye and tied on a jig. The "thump" is not quite the same on a 4' rod lol, ended up catching a couple in spite of things and spent a enjoyable day on the river. Plenty of birds of all sorts to look at, a few gators soaking up the sun, a river otter, and the smallest manatee I have ever seen, (curious as to how old it was) In all it was a beautiful day and I get to buy a new spinning rod.
When life gives you lemons..............

Creativity is just intelligence fooling around
We've all been there=broken rod, had lost one of my 2 pinnacle rods for casting, that had the perfect action for setting float/jig hook-ups, could never find the same rod, but purchased another that has become a "go to" instead of using the other pinnacle rod....it's a bummer losing 1, but you may just find another one that "fits the bill"...
