Put a steel cable instead of the rope.
anyone know of a "lift assist" kit for maxxum trolling motor? I'm getting to old, the fall to the back of boat hurts when rope breaks.

A grandson or granddaughter is a good solution if you got one. If not, a young neighbor with a strong back.

You may be able to get a fortrex bow mount.I have one and it has lift assist. Also the cable they talk about works good. I check my rope often and even tape wrap it where it rubs. The local trolling motor shop sells the rope fairly cheap and mine changes easily."D"
