    Default Lake Okeechobee fishing report

Hello everyone this post was supposed to be givin to you by friday night but I just got the report from an old buddy of mine. At the north end of the lake where the Kissimmee river comes into the lake they are still catching limits at night with jigs and minnows under the lights and good numbers during the day . Working your way twards the south west at Indian prarie and Hardney pond has been doing well also with solid 15 keepers during the day now moving down twards Moore Haven and Clewiston bluegills shellcrackers and bass are HOT!!! Crappies well almost ready to get hammering time the numbers during the day are sloid 10 keepers during the day jigging at nighte under the light with jigs and minnows are running in the 15-20 keepers Hot colors are 1/16 jig head with green black flake tubes and red head black thread with white tail , electric chicken , white and blue , white with grey a minnow mimic, chart black and chart , chart cinnomon blue . Any of these combos and also tipped with minnows . Some of the biggest slabs have been in the 2-2.5 lb range caught on 1/8-3/16 jig head tipped with minnow at night under the lights . Hope this helps everyone and by next weekend when we get that micro cool front that should set the southern end off for the numbers to limit out for the next estimated month! TIGHT LINES!!

    Swamptoad, Thanks for the report!

I live in Buckhead Ridge and really appreciate the information. I believe the locks are closed as of today.

Singleshot, is the water that low that they have to close the locks? Will they open them to give you access to the lake?

This is a link to info about the lock closures.
You can still get to the lake by launching at Scott Driver park or Okee Tantie boat launches on the Kissimee River.
Launch #7 in Okeechobee will get you on the lake as well as Indian Prarie and Harney Pond Canals.

Thanks Slingshot for the helpfull link on lock closers but we can hope and pray that later this week the 3 days of predicted rain will help bring the level up a bit and the temperature in the mornings are mid 60's so im sure as the weather warms up the bite will kick hard between the 8 am to 10 am area then sunset till however long you can stay awake lol Also for Fishing 813 the okeetantiee ramp is a good one you got the best of both heading up north the kissimmee river and then heading south into the lake the possibilities are endless just bring the lights, minnows, soda, sandwhiches, beer and snacks and stay on the water as much as possible youll do good!

You always compliment anyone who writes over two lines. You know you get tired reading that much without pictures in between and your attention span won't allow you to absorb that much information.RoflRofl
