    Default Still waiting

I am really interested in the Garmin striker 7 sv. to go on my trolling motor, on the bow of my boat. I know you ,cant get maps, link ups, etc. and dispite this I would like to have side image( is it any good? ). I am waiting for Garmin to do the right thing about it's transducers. You would think that a company this techanical could very easily determine the difference between the CV and GT transducers. This being said would offer trade-ins for the BEST transducers. The screen shots I have seen clearly show a difference in the transducers. I realize I am just ONE customer, but this is saying to me "I don't give a hoot , all I want is your money". Whatever happened to treating each customer like they are special and important .I have voiced my opinion on this forum before, but I guess I will have to buy an alternative. This is a shame because I kind a liked this unit.........thanks for letting me vent........everybody stay ,cool and good fishing.....crappie1133

I have never had to deal with Garmin but I can tell you this. I was new to hummingbird this year as well as the helix units. Surprisingly they were very easy to learn. I had a lot of trouble with the first and second unit that they sent me but their customer never even batted an eye at sending replacements out and were top notch all the way. Can't say good enough things about em really

I sold all my Humminbirds and went to Garmin and very happy with their products and tech support !!! I have the EchoMap 93 sv at my helm and the Striker 7 sv at the aft of boat , now the 93 sv comes with the upgraded transducer the strike 7 does not and probably for good reason the price of unit compared to the transducer !!!!

I run both Garmin an Humminbird. Both have features the other lacks. Software upgrades are easier with Garmin vastly easier. Si and Di imaging Humminbird wins. 2d Garmin wins. Panoptix is only available with Garmin. Humminbird link with the Terrova is highly useful. Customer service I give a slight edge to Humminbird. Mapping is roughly equal but a lot of that depends upon your location.

Ease and value of resale not even close Humminbird's that I have sold were sold way faster than any Garmin. Primarily I think because more freshwater guys familiar with the birds. May be different with saltwater fellas.

If you just bought a new unit and it came with a GT rather than a CV then that would be something noteworthy. Good for you. I use a 93sv chirp and am happy. My first such unit so I have little comparative experience. It is way better than my friend's HB, but I suspect much of that may be in the operator/set-up. When I bought mine I was told that in order to get the same pic quality with the HB I needed to upgrade ducers. I opted to go this route. A year later there are things that HB is better at for sure. If I had to make the call today I am not sure which way I would go. After the lawsuit thingy who knows what may be on the horizon for any of them. I would wait now for the new stuff and see what's out there. hays47 is spot on in his assessments IMHO. If I had real questions I would call Brian at BBG and get straight info from someone who will listen and try to satisfy your needs.
