    Default Garmin Echomap 74sv

I was wondering if anyone knew if you can set a waypoint when using Sidevu with this unit?

Sure. Using the arrow pad, you simply put the crosshairs on the object of interest, then hit "Select". Note that hitting the "Mark" button will always save the wpt at your current boat location, even with the crosshairs on the screen.

Do you have to be in sidevu only? I have a combination screen with Sidevu and Downvu, but will only let me use the crosshairs in downvu. The crosshairs do not show up in Sidevu.

I'll have to go look at mine (93sv) but it may be which screen you have designated as active.

When you are viewing multiple panes like you describe with SideVu and DownVu, you must toggle the active pane by hitting Select twice to change it. The active pane will have a blue border around it. So, you currently have the active pane as DownVu. Hit Select twice to change active pane to SideVu, then do as I described in previous post.

Rickie, thanks! I've been monitoring this board for Garmin for several months. Due to the active and knowledgeable Garmin users here helping others, I haven't had a need to actually post a reply until now.

Thanks for the info. I thought I had it selected, but maybe not, I'll give it a try again.
