    Default Shumacker 1500-a charger

I bought this charger 2 yr ago and I love it. It has a 15, 8, and 2 amp charge setting. Digital readout. Maintenance mode once the charge is complete. It also lets you select the type of battery. Here is my issue: it recently started making a high pitched sound when operating. It seems to still function but it makes me nervous that something isn't right. It sounds like a bearing or something could be bad? Any idea if this is ok to continue use or should I see if the co will repair it?

I have one that did the same thing. Never caused any problems. I think it's the coils vibrating and over time they may get a little loose. Maybe CatFan will see this. He is the Guru of all things to do with Battery's.

I haven't had much luck out of them. I've had two that crapped out right after warranty.

I'm going to see if the manufacturer will repair it. Had a couple guys listen to it and they agree that it sounds like the fan isn't turning but the shaft is likely spinning inside fan housing. They suggested just taking it apart to confirm. I'm scared to do that.

Mine developed a whining noise that turned out to be the fan bearing running dry. I went ahead and opened mine up and lubed the fan. No more noise.

Open it up. Repair cost is going to exceed what the charger cost most likely.
