I like the idea of using the sand bags that won't scratch the boat. Just wondering if they will stay in place as good as the concrete blocks do and how long would the sacks last before coming apart and letting whatever float to the top. The sacks would also be much cheaper than the blocks.

I have some sand bags that have been in for a year and are still holding, I think by the time the bag fails the brush will be so water logged it will never come back up. Sand bags will move around some if they are in currents or strong wave action. They don't hold as well as a concrete block but are cheaper, don't scratch the boat, are easier to handle and do the job.
