On the cross pieces, it is a little harder to haul them in a boat if they won't lay on their sides.

I don't think there is a good solution for them falling over. If the bottom is hard and the wave action gets to 3' or 4' once they are seasoned they could fall over.

They will still hold Crappie, it's just your waypoint may not reflect the current location.

Drill four holes at the bottom on the side of the bucket, slide boo or some scrap wood, or some tree limbs through the hole to make feet, pour some Crete in to cover, then pack it with sand, gravel, bricks, whatever, and finish with more concrete. You can't lay em over very good, so you can't haul as many at once, but they will stand up pretty good.

Dropped 2 of these today... definitely a pain to haul with the bottom supports but dropped awesome and set up straight... I did put a 20 oz coke bottle in the top of em to help them stay upright... 80 lbs Crete definitely overkill... hate it just now getting to start dropping them but y'all know how things go... oh and the rope trick didn't work for me apparently it got twisted and I had to pull the top back up to get the rope off them drop it again maybe just my bad luck... I will update in a couple weeks to let y'all know if they started holding fish

I think once you see the results Bamboo produces you will be hooked for life.

I have been building them & putting them out for 20 years. Put 23 out 2weeks ago. I fished them last Wednesday, caught over 100 crappie & kept 9 to eat.

Where is a good place to find Bamboo or are you growing your own? I don't know of any places here in southeastern OK where it grows wild but we do have what they call river cain.

There are some patches of boo that get larger than river cane that grow wild around here. The bigger stuff was brought in for decoration mostly. The boo I cut came from nam, used to block the view from the road.
There might be some closer, but your welcome to come here, we can cut and load up everything you want. Can dig up some roots to start your own.
Check with your county extension service. They would know if it will grow in your area.
Check with nurseries, feed/seed stores, co-op, they may know of someone that has some to cut.

Make sure you want the bamboo before it is planted as it is almost impossible to stop it once it gets to growing good. It will spread like wildfire in the right soil.
Be safe and good luck fishing
