How do you pick a spot?
I finally built 3 big boo buckets. they stand about 5 to 6 frrt tall and about 8 to 10 feet in diamete. the lake I fish is a flood control lake and is basically rock and mud bottom. Is there anything I should look for with my sonar or topo map or fow? thanks!

Points that come out from the land and run to a channel is also another good area.

The You Tube video of the guys in TX is good. They pick out a point, then run out to where it hits the channel, then go back halfway and deposit their habitat, they caught fish on it only 2 days after placement. I would give you the link but don't know how.Originally Posted by OkieDon

I like Points also, but I usually go to the Left or Right, and find the deepest water around the Point. Move out till I find 10'-12' of water and drop the Brush Pile. I also like to find where creeks run up close to the pbank, deep water contour lines close to the bank. Large Flats surrounded by deep water. We olace most of our Brush Piles in 10'-15' of water. We have found that those depths hold fish the majority of the months. January, Febuaury, then Late July, & August they may be deeper. The rest of the time (Texas) we catch the in 10'-15'.
I don't like playing Hide & Seek during the Spawn, so we just use the same Brush Pile to catch them Staging for the Per-Spawn, and backing out for the Post-Spawn. We do put a few out in deeper water, but just a smae percentage. we put out more than 35 New Brush Pile over the winter, and only 6 were in deeper water.
