Default Is anybody else a cast iron nut/collector?

I've got several pieces of cast iron cookware that belonged to grandparents and extended family. I've had several of them for quite a while but haven't used them a whole lot. There are a couple of skillets that I use regularly and an enameled dutch oven. I've really started to get back into using cast iron and have had to strip and reseason several pieces. This could easily become an obsession!

Have several "old" cast Iron skillets, nothing cooks better. My favorites are the ones made by "Griswold" and "Wagner"..I always cook my cornbread in one as well as my biscuits.

We have one at the unit that we use every day. I love it! I have been in search for one for a long time but I just can't find one. I know they sell them in stores but I was told they are nothing like the one we use at the unit... I'm very fortunate not to have inherited one yet though so no complaints there. If anybody has one in collection they would like to part with or ideas on where to find one like moms or grandmaws please let me know.
    Thanks!

Been using cast iron skillets to cook in since around the early 1970's (my grandmother's) and purchased a set of skillets & pans around 8-10yrs later ... which I've only ever used the skillet from the set. And I have recently been given a oversized iron skillet, by my Mom. Also have the iron cornstick pan from my grandmother. Pretty much all I've ever cooked with was cast iron, and 3 copper bottom sauce pans (also given to me by my grandmother). Never paid any attention to their brands, because they were hand me downs & "first purchases when out on my own" ... so the sentimental value is greater than their financial value. I wouldn't even consider using any other cookware.

I've got 2. One Griswold and I think an old lodge. Would like to get another larger griswold, but they're expensive. They're about all I use anymore. Seem to cook a lot better than Teflon coated pans.

I been using cast iron for many years,Yard sales and flea markets are good places to look,But because something is old don't mean its expensive. Some folks ask way too high prices for cast iron. The older Griswold and wagner are great cookers but I heard that the tiwain pan cooks just as good if your looking for a user pan.Over the years I have collected and restored 48 cast iron pans ,Five dutch ovens and three camp ovens and still looking for a bargain.I do a lot of cooling and love my cast iron

I enjoy watching lots of the cooking with cast iron videos they have on you tube. Started collecting things myself and found good deals on line thru KaTom cooking supplies, some at Gander Mountain and Lodge. It does become habit forming real fast. Now I have to wait for the burn ban to be dropped for our area before I can go outside and practice. We all enjoy your posts and pictures you share so please keep them up with the meals you prepare. My biggest project right now is a large skillet that was in the shed when we bought our house. It's heavily rusted and I've been working on refurbishing it. It may be an old Birmingham Stove & Range but I'm not 100% sure. I've got some pre 1960 Lodge and Wagner. I'm on the hunt for cast iron bundt pans now.
