I still use peanut oil. It tolerates a higher temp without burning.---Pooch
What kind of oil do you all fry fish in? I heard years ago everybody used vegetable oil, then they switched to peanut oil. I've been wanting to try cottonseed oil from Bass Pro. Also does anybody fry fish in hog lard? Just wondering what everybody else does.

I'll have to try peanut oil. I've seen it but have always used canola.
Peanut oil or Canola Oil is what is recommended. Peanut Oil is very expensive tho. I only use Peanut Oil to Deep Frye Turkeys. It is cooked longer and handles the heat better. Hog lard is the worst oil you can use according to Heart Doctor's. Anything that comes from a hog is bad for your health.
