Good Video
Hello all,
I just wanted to share a video I made to teach people the basics of using marabou jigs.
Thanks for watching hoping it will help some of you out.
Mods: if this isn't allowed feel free to let me know and I will delete my post.

I concur with "G" ... good video & something our beginners will learn from.
(and just as a side note : you can't delete your post after it's been submitted for ~30mins, only a Moderator can do that. Also, you can't advertise products in posts, pics, or videos, unless you are a Member Sponsor ... and then only in restricted situations. I'm not saying that because this video breaks that rule, it doesn't, but just as a FYI for any future videos you may have planned or want to post. And always feel free to contact a Moderator or SuperModerator if you have questions concerning your actions or plans & unsure about allowances for them)
One other way to use a marabou jig (or any style Crappie jig), that you might want to try yourself, is what I call Vertical Casting. Here's the article - Crappie Pappy Article

Thanks for the tips. I apparently have been vertical casting for years and never knew there was a name for it. It works really well in winter when the bite is tough.

I'm sure this has been covered on here before but, when I'm vertical casting I will keep a small rubber band with me, once I get that first bite I will set the hook and put the band on the bale. That way I can drop the jig back to the exact depth where the fish are holding.

That would likely work in some relatively open water circumstances ... but, when I'm Vertical Casting a downed tree, or heavy cover, my first priority is to get the fish OUT of there, FAST !!
I just always make sure I put the jig back down BELOW the depth the bite came from, so as to be sure I'm pulling it back through the entire school that's present in that cover, because it's not always the deepest fish or first fish the jig comes to that bites. Most of the time that's back to the bottom, or near it. Deepest water I've done Vertical Casting in was 30ft ... with most bites coming in the first couple of handle turns (<4ft rise off bottom). But, more often than not I'm doing it in less than 20fow. Most always using a 1/16oz jig/plastics on 6lb test line (same setup I use for casting).

Great video, thank you. I really like the tip about sticking your finger under the line while reeling, I'm definitely going to have to try that soon!
