Default What's going on with Lake Conway?

Since the crappie have not been cooperating, and I don't know what I'm doing I decided to switch gears and chase bream yesterday with crickets.

A buddy and I fished for 3 hrs up and down caney creek drowning crickets on the banks and only managed 4. I'm trying to find a bream hole that I can take my three young boys (all under 7), but can't seem to get on them.

It was a great time just being on the water, but I'd like to start catching a few more and get my boys out on the boat soon.

Anyone else getting skunked on ol stumpy?

I don’t fish there but if the water is clear enough , go at night and use a spotlight and find the beds.
    Then take the kiddos back.
It may be a little early for bluegill but the red ears should be starting

Water clarity is pretty poor in Conway. I heard the bream were biting, but someone lied to someone who lied to me. :D

I tried bream at all my old honey holes on Nimrod this weekend and struck-out. Water temp was 68, a little low for them to be on the beds. Did manage to find some decent crappie over brush. A lot of boats on the lake for sure.

We’ve done good on red ear and bluegill over around the palarm access fishing banks with crickets and trout magnets under corks 18-24”. We found most of our fish are coming prolly 20-30 feet off the bank. Just pulled the boat outta the water from over there actually.

    Thanks man!

I've fished there from the pier before, but never put the boat in at Palarm. The alligator weed was bad last time I went by, are you fishing in the weeds or finding clear spots?

The banks are still pretty clear. Some pads are starting to come up in places and then the random moss/duck weed beds but we have been finding fish off those as well. Just slow start/stop pullin back to the boat. Water is 2-4ft over so that could be why they are so far off the bank.
