Not sure of that brand, but I use a 3 inch katlins brand a lot. Only problem is they don't make it anymore in the smaller body size. So I bought A BUNCH of the last ones I found
I fish Lake Ouachita mostly and the Kalins Tennessee Shad is my jig of choice normally. I found them in a 3" body the other day and grabbed them just because. I've been wanting to fish a bigger jig because I frequently find crappie with Shad inside them and have seen them chasing full grown threadfin shad. Anyone ever use a 3" jig?

I meant Kalins, guess that auto correct got me.... that's what I'm gonna blame it on anyways.
The ones I got are a bigger body, but honestly to me seem like they should work. I've caught crappie on big bass spinner baits before I know if it'll fit in their mouths they should eat it.

The last couple of years I've used a 3" a lot and have had good luck with them. But there are times when smaller are better.
Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
I have actually used 5" zoom super flukes for crappie with pretty good success. I don't seem to catch to many small fish with them. when the big uns are there and hungry they eat them good. Caught quite a few barn door slabs on bass jigs and on worms and lizards also.

I have experimented with a twitch tail 3 inch minnow for the past few yrs. They will catch good sized fish.

Well, see... my phone changed kalins to katlins I hate auto correct. I agree though... the bigger body should work, I just REALLY like the slimmer one that they used to make in 3 inch. Works awesome on a slider jig head. Lately though the smaller size of the tripple threat has been better for me.
Man the old Sassy Shads have been around for ever and they will catch anything that swims in the appropriate size. And yes the 3" has worked good at times for larger crappie. You just have to know sometimes you have to change sizes.
I have been wailing the fish on the Shadpole CT. I don't know the exact length of them but they are a beefier jig. But thrown in the middle of a shad school of 3" or so fish....it must look good cause they jump on it. Still have to have the right color though....Work better some days on roadrunner head...
If you follow the bass circuits at all in the last twenty years you see articles all the time on going big... or down sizing....same for all fish.
Let them tell you what they want that day...good pattern develops can last for months sometimes.
It's nice when a pattern holds and you can fish the same bait for long stretches with good success.
But sometimes a change will make you work to figure them out...that's all part of it and good for us too I think. Don't want anything in life to come too easy all the time...at least that's what I hear LOL..
All I use is bigger jigs . My favorite is 2'' Umbrella tube on 1/8 oz head but it usually a little longer than 2'' . In spring muddy water sometimes move up to 2.5'' tube and 1/4 oz head . The slabs in spring will not hesitate to hit a big bait . Every summer lots are caught trolling crankbaits .
