I seldom do that except in winter fishing open water . You will loose alot more trying near cover !
I’m interested in adding an extra jig a foot ar two above the regular jig. Anyone have any wisdom about what knot to tie or what size jig head to use (or no jig head but just a hook)? I figure one jig is good but maybe 2 is better.
Tryin to keep up with the folks fishin not one but 2 minners per rod is no easy task!

I use a simple loop knot that CP showed me. Tie the first jig on with the simple loop knot with a long tag end. Use the long tag end to tie in your bottom jig with another loop knot.

my favorite way,,, some folk do 3 some to 4 wraps through loop
I have used double jig rigs before, I have never caught a fish on the top jig. I have no explanation for why, but that is my experience.

Loop knot on top jig. 18 to 20 inch spacing. Caught several 2fers.

I do it when I'm trolling jigs. I've tried it with limited success when jigging. I just use a standard loop knot with a long end.
I have never trolled for crappie so my use of the double jig rigs has been casting or vertical jigging. I know it works well, just hasn't been the case for me
