    No flying crap. There is a healthy population of whites and stripers though. I don't think they do much damage. Ouachita was built in what the 50's? Still a lot of standing timber under the water, it also is surrounded by the national forest so they'll hold water in it during spring floods when they need to. This helps water get up in the woods and buckbrush. The east area of the lake has a lot of moss beds/ hydrilla. All of that combined it's a baitfish factory with a pretty healthy fishery. Just my opinion.

    I grew up fishing Ouachita. Family has a lake home up near mount ida and I spent many summers and springs up there growing up, still go as much as I can. Conway is so much closer for me though, wish I could learn to fish these shallow bodies of water. Ouachita isn't as complicated as most folks make it, just find brush piles in the right depth and you'll find fish. Normally they're 20+ ft deep so you just toss your jig let it sink and reel it slow.
