Have any of you tried fall or winter night fishing under lights?

Never tried night fishing for crappie myself. Seems like its more popular in the heat of summer. I'm early to bed an early to rise myself. Night fishing would be to hard on me anyway!

Night fishing can be very productive if you go at the right time and use the right lighting.

Saw a cooler full on Toledo bend one morning that would sure tempt most folks to try it.. was in the Sammy Gill marina going bass fishing and a couple of guys were buying a couple of bags of ice. I asked if they had already caught them and they said they had fished the previous night. I asked if they caught any and they said 165. I asked if there was any size to them and they said you look and tell us what I thought. They opened 2 72 qt. coolers stacked full of slab crappie. all looked like twins and 13-14 inches long. I was crappie fishing the next night. only 48 but at the time was my best stringer. they put me on them. Creek c hannel came up to a ledge at 17 feet. It was about 4 ft wide and then came up to 14 ft. I would catch 3 or so and ten minutes later 3 more. My partner froze out and we had to come in about 11. Days before thinsulate and such.
Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.
