I dont know, but I would like to know the answer to this question as well. I will be fishing it hard this year for sure trying to figure it out.
I dont see much talk on here about the river, is fishing poor, or not many fish there? That is where I do most of my fishing with mixed luck. Mostly catch a few here and there, but never really got in them. Is this what is expected or can a person really catch big numbers if they put in the time? Any info would be appreciated.

I usually catch more bass than crappie on the river, but I fish between the dam and the Broadway bridge area.
I'm aware of someone who tears them up fishing the AR river, but he is an exceptional fisherman for any species he chooses. Out of respect for him, he's very private about his fishing, I really can't say more. But they are there.

Met a gentleman this week that said the Ar River was his main haunt for crappie ... he shared some photo's and general ideas on his tactics .. the end result was that he was wearing them out !!!

The river is full of crappie. There have been many posts from it to include the Little Rock area/Conway area. Search back water areas, tributary's, Parlarm Creek, Maumelle creek, Maumelle river, Cadron creek, Toadsuck park, Murray park Plumerville cutoff, and many many more have yielded legendary catches over the years. They also love the down stream side of those many rock jetty's along the river. River crappie are here today and gone tomorrow. There is allot of water out there to cover...but you can find them and when you do they usually give you a few weeks at least of great fishing. Good Luck...There are some big Ole Slabs in that river you can bet on it.
