I have two buddies who bass fish the Arkansas River at Toadsuck just outside Conway all the time. They are 100% bass fishermen only, but they say that every time they go out they see people just killing it around the western park boat launch in the little cove and rock jetty. One guy is a serious tournament fisherman with some expensive electronics on his boat and he says he sees all kinds of fish there when he launches. He doesn't care about chasing anything but the largemouths and covering as much water as he can so I can't speak to his experience crappie jigging it there, but he's always told me I should try that area.

They also love the down stream side of those many rock jetty's along the river. River crappie are here today and gone tomorrow. There is allot of water out there to cover...but you can find them and when you do they usually give you a few weeks at least of great fishing. Good Luck...There are some big Ole Slabs in that river you can bet on it.

I've know an old gentalman that was a great bass fisherman in his younger years that has constantly fished only down stream sides of jetties in the LR pool with a spinning rod and double jig rigs. He ALWAYS has crappie in his freezer. Say's the key is cold water and low flow.

We have had mixed results on river and fish it quite a bit. Skunked some days, four or five others. In the fall/early winter we have caught them stacked and fill boat, they where nice fish too, 1.5 to 2 lb fish.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in a pretty, well preserved body,
but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming "WOW what a ride".
