Thread: River fishing help

Jw i have running it to the same here. I catch some here in river and but when they cut off there off. I fish the river the last 4 weeks and it been like they had lock jaw. I know the should be back soon now.

I can't help out any. I've never fished a river for crappie. Guess I need to learn.

ive always heard on the main ms river when it gets low, they tend to scatter in the summer in deep holes

They are in the tributary creeks now JW, This pattern starts in Sept. A jigging pole serves me well in this pattern as allot of the creeks I fish are to full of cover and debris to spider rig in. Plus the fish relate really well to cover this time of year on the Arkansas River in the creeks. Go get Em.

I think the biggest contributing factor from the CACA tournament was the fact of fishing very slow. It was told that the longer they kept the bait still on the structure, the better the bite got.

Man not to many creeks to run up in here. Gindog had it lock jaw. Odd thing is sonar is empty everywhere i searched

We have had the same problem. Caught a few when the current was just right around the rock dikes, that was luck, we where green carp fishing with spinner baits. Have been catching a few lately, like one on cover then move to the next cover and catch another one. They have been nice ones but sure is a long day of fishing, but that beats anything else I could be doing.....

I've always said Fall and late Summer crappie fishing is the worst! Winter, even cold Winter they can be found, and until it gets just too hot to keep minners alive they can be found but once the extreme hot hits and into fall they disappear. Someone posted something along this line not too long ago. Now the hot summer time can be good bassin at nights with few fish but BIG fish. As the weather cools into fall small bass are abundant and then when it seems just too darn cold to be on the water the BIG bass start back. We used to crappie fish a lot at night so hot summer and early fall crappie may be better at night?? Then there's the moon that was just full at night which I've heard crappie feed all night long when it's full.
