Thread: Here it comes.......HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL

Week #2 brings Prescott to Camden Harmony Grove tonight. Both teams are coming off huge wins. They'll be looking to return the favor as we upset them last year at their place. Gonna be a tough non-conference game tonight, kinda like the Razorback-TCU game tomorrow. Hope both teams win.........oh, and the Tennessee Titans on Sunday too. GTT

One word for you football fans.......CONCUSSION! 3rd quarter I watched John walk off the field and the coaches took him to the bench and started their protocol. After about 10 seconds, one points to the side of his head and another goes to tell the head coach. They motioned for us to come down and immediately told us to get him to the ER. We just got home with him. He was disoriented and wobbly, but he's better now. Scary to see your child that way, but that's football and we all know that it could be any one of the players at any play. They told us to take him to our regular physician Monday morning. We also had another player with a concussion, another with a knee injury, and another with a neck injury. Harmony Grove lost to Prescott 39-7 tonight. NOT a good football night in our home opener. GTT

Sorry to hear that. Like you said just part of the dangers of this sport! Hope everything goes good with Doctor. I'm sure it will. Sounds like some big hitting was taking place

Thanks Cooler. Yes, big hits for a while. I know two Prescott players were knocked out of the game and we had at least four. They all try to mimic the pros and really lay somebody out with that big crashing hit, instead of just making the tackle. We knew that he liked to do that and his helmet was already scarred up after just one game and a scrimmage....."battle wounds." Plow horse got rode hard and put up wet last night.

He'll be resting all weekend and we'll have to see what the doc says on Monday. ALL 5 of his coaches, as well as the high school principal, came to see him at the ER. I thought that really says a lot about our program at Harmony Grove High School. Two of John's teammates were also at the ER last night. One for a concussion and another for a neck injury. The kid with the neck injury was taken to Children's Hospital for precautions.

Scary night for CHG Hornets fans.

Well, our regular doc said that John did NOT have a concussion, but instead was very dehydrated and overheated during the game. He's cleared to play if he feels like he can go. Two of our players are out for sure. Never like to see kids hurt. GTT

Glen Rose comes to Camden this evening for a matchup with the Hornets. This is not a conference game and as of earlier today, coaches were unsure who would and wouldn't play. John has been cleared to play and probably will be snapping the ball. This one may get ugly, but you never know. Hoping for no injuries! GTT

Alright Tracker. Glad you keep up with us. CHG 27 - Glen Rose 35 tonight. Lots of big plays for both teams. 4 TDs scored in the 4th quarter. John Boy was getting poked in the eye and retaliated when the refs refused to do anything about it and was flagged for a 15 yard unsportsmanlike penalty. Ole eye poker got drove in the ground, though! I knew something must have happened because I could tell from up in the bleachers that John was super mad!

Not getting pics pics from the yearbook staff like last year or would post more pics. Hope to get some later. disappointing loss for us, but we played very well and no one got hurt. GTT
