    Default Black lake/southern tier

Just spent a week at Black lake, 1st trip in 5 yrs. First part of the week hunting for crappie but did catch a of of pike and small mouth bass. Plus perch and brim. By thursday the water temp hit 62 and some of the crappie moved into the banks from 10-12 ft of water. Fri was best day, between 3 of us we caught 57 crappie, some 12-13 inches. Mainly blue/white tubes tipped with waxies. Switched to red/white if we thought they started to be selective. A friend used nothing but a bettlespinn with minow immatation. Great week but kinda windy and cool the first 3 days. Southern tier NY I have been hammering the panfish. Still using jigs/waxies. Mainly the small lakes and a fewponds on the state land. Just enough crappies to keep me excited and the size of most pan fish are goood! Going to start switching motors on my 16 ft alum boat and hope to put it in this weekend. Life is good and I am happy.
