What I noticed this weekend at KY Lake....
Went wading in the flats and creek nearby. The alligator gars have moved in. Some over 4 foot in length. I guess Gars are getting ready to snack out on the bedding crappies. Did not see any nesting crappie, so the spawn has not really got under way in my area. Water temp varied 4 to 5 degrees morning til dark. Caught most of the good fish in the late evening and nite using bubble gum jigs and minnows. Early AM, fishing was very slow. The turtles were lined up on the logs, hanging out and soaking up rays. Also the water snakes were out in abundance. These are good signs. The big factor was that the water level has risen about 4 feet from last weekend. I think this kinda confused the fish. Things should begin to settle down by this coming weekend.
Fish should be bedding down here this week. Fishing should be good this coming weekend. I hope so, I have Grands coming down for another visit this coming weekend.
