    Default Home Made Fryer

I was at a fall festival and there were homemade fryers that people were using to fry bread and onion rings. Wonder if anyone has homemade outdoor fryer ideas on how to make one.

Don't use a homeade fryer but have a suggestion for modifying the store bought ones.

I had a friend weld some 1/2" rebar legs to mine. Raised it up to about waist level and I love it. Makes it a little harder to cook in the wind but no more bending over a hot fryer. Pic attached.

Standard ole' outdoor cooker. Came with an aluminum pot and basket for deep frying.
But as you can see, I use cast iron. I think I've used the aluminum pot once.
Wally world for $35 I think.

Mine is all SS and holds 8 to 10 gallons of oil. I can cook for 75 people with it. And have done that lots of times.
I will try to get some pictures. But its a big 2 burner unit and a big SS pot that is about 16" wide x 32" long and even has a big steamer pot that goes with it. and a SS top.
Found one of mine in action

    Here is my next cooker.

Ahhh. The grill! That's the ole' Fiesta grill I've had for over 6 years now. It was a gas grill in another life. It's been reincarnated into a portable charcoal grill. We mostly use it when camping but occasionally use it in the backyard for shishkabobs or BBQ cabbage. That day we made BBQ cabbage!

I have to laugh at the irony. Fryer with extended legs and old gas grill on the ground used as a charcoal grill. :D D@mn I'm weird!

No pics, but I took a harrow disc and welded a 5 inch rolled band of flat steel around the edge of the harrow disc. Welded 3 pipe fittings onto the bottom to screw the pipe legs and welded brackets to hold a burner (came from one of the old chicken house brooders) underneath the harrow dish. Drilled a hole offset from the bottom of the harrow disc and put a faucet inline on the pipe welded underneath the harrow disc over the drilled hole in order to drain the grease after it's cooled in order to get the grease back into the jug to use later. Holds enough grease to cook for a decent crowd and the burner will heat the grease very quick if needed.
