Deeper Smart Portable Fishfinder FLDP-05
Anyone have one of the Deeper Portable Fish Finders? Is it worth the $200?

duh! I didn't notice that little tidbit of valuable information. FTR - still sold on Amazon
The only reason I am curious is it is a relatively cheap alternative while I rent Jon boats at the local county lakes and the reviews seem to be positive

Humminbird FISHIN BUDDY MAX DI
I have built two portable depth finders as I have multiple small boats and like to be able to move them from one to another. I also rent boats when I travel and having a DF with GPS and mapping is advantageous. My first was a $99 unit mounted on a small plastic box with the 12V battery from an electric drill inside. I mounted the transducer in a hunk of packing foam and secured it with tie-wraps. The second was similar but is a HB Helix 5 DI GPS. It is mounted on a plastic "ammo-can" purchased at Harbor Freight. It carries a 7AH gel cell and the transducer as the other unit is mounted in a block of foam. I mounted a Ram Mount on the top of the box to hold the Helix. While they do not work at high speed, I just toss the transducer over the side when I want to "look" at the bottom. The GPS function works with the transducer still safely in the boat when I am at speed so I can track where I am going (so I can get back - I get lost easily).
I can take pictures of the Helix unit if you like.
