I just got a report from a friend fishing Bistineau. He's catching good slabs early and late on sunny days, and when clouds move in. Seems they are along the creek channels in 12 to 18 ft, and coming up to the shallows to feed when the light penetration is low. In that area, the water along the channel averages between 4 to 6 ft. He's casting a jig under a float set to +or- 18" off bottom. His jig is 1/16 oz. w/black head and black & chartruce tube, with an anise spray for scent. He also said if one could find a creek channel under the shade of the cypress trees it's a gold mine. I know where he's refering to, but I'm sworn to secrecy. Odd situation, though. He didn't want me to be secretive 'til I showed him where it was! LOL! :p Truthfully, I wouldn't have taken him if I thought he would spill the beans. A good crappie fisherman MUST have a few private spots
