10' ios all I use for jigging in a 16' f.b.
I have a 14ft flatbottom and have 14 ft bnm pro staff rds and it seems way to long and to much to handle in that size boat. Could I still be successful with some 12ft and some 10ft?

If I dont ask its my fault for not knowing
if your fishing deeper water 8` or more, they will work. in shallower water the boat tends to run the fish away. you will still get a few, but the bigger fish tend to run for cover.
Go to 16 ft you will catch more fish! !!!!!!

I have a 10, 11 and a 12. 10 feels too short unless I'm fishing deeper water. 12 is too much to handle, and the 11 is my favorite all around pole.
In that boat if your rigging I'd say 10's and 12's would be a lot better. Caught a lot of fish rigging with 8's and 10's when I first started.
I use 10's and catch plenty of crappie!! Find a pole that fits your needs and is light. Maybe a two piece to help stow it easier.

I started my crappie endeavors fishing from a 1436 jon boat and I used 10' rods and caught plenty of fish. I think longer rods are a plus, but you can still catch fish with 10's. Back then I caught a lot of fish tightlining in shallow water (4-8 foot), but I will say the waters I fish are generally dingy in color so that helps. I currently fish 12's out of a bass boat, but I really want to upgrade to 14's in the near future.
Hooking up every chance I get!
My big thing is keeping the lines out of the TM. Longer rods are supposed to do better for not spookin fish. I use 6 - 12' rods and do double duty for other things too.
