Not real sure on that. To me though, fishing 6-8' is not what I would call fishing deep.
I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're goin' and hook up with them later.

That's very shallow for me. As for "what was going on?" a good case of find another spot. I try not to get tied up on why I can't catch them, I concentrate on where else can I catch them when I do find a honey hole. My home lake gets very clear in late summer and I know spots where the fish just font bite, friends scuba pics. just make me sick sometimes.

I'm fishing over 33-40ft and catching them from 25-38ft deep this time of year--that's deep

I went fishing this past Sunday, water temp was 57 and I caught 9 less than 4' deep.

    They might still be shallow...

The pics I saw were not dig. So I can't post them. They told me about the spots and I spent too much time trying to catch fish on them. If you wanna see some killer under water footage YouTube Marcum or underwater camera. Start out with "Sleeping Beauties 2009"

I know everybody says to fish above where you think fish are holding, and I agree...at first. That being said if I'm marking fish at 10 ft I'll start fishing at about 8 ft deep, but if I'm not getting bit I'll gradually drop down to 10 ft. Sometimes if fish aren't very aggressive it seems like they want it on their noses.

Beyond that I'd try another place/depth to try to find more active fish.

Lots of times I'm marking bait and seeing arches for fish and think this IS THE SPOT and find out theyre there...but wont bite. You just have to give up on that spot and move to another. Lots of people spend half a day there because their graphs say the fish are there and still dont catch hardly anything. They go home without fish and just say they arent biting. Then you read another post with someone with a limit of nice fish. You gotta move and find some fish willing to bite.Thumbs Up

I agree with you guys about finding active fish but before i leave that spot, i'll downsize my baits and see if they'll go for them. Going down to an 80th oz jighead/stinger, and putting it in their range has worked really well for me some days. Put a heavier splitshot a foot or so above it to get it down or it'll take forever to sink.
