Default Kayak Trip Report, Flint River

I returned to the Flint River today, cold, windy and miserable. The fish have slowed down, water was 41 degrees with visibility of about three feet. They're still there and still biting though! Same pattern, single pole on laydowns and brush in 10 to 12 feet of water, the fish are 8 to 9 feet down. They won't come up from that level to take a bait and the bite is slow and soft. I kept half a limit for lunch tomorrow and returned a limit (mostly larger fish). Big boy of the trip was a 16-inch Black Crappie.

Last trip for a while, go back to work Monday. Blessed to have the last three weeks off with agreeable weather and hungry fish.

    Nice! Thank you for sharing!

Do you mind sharing the address for the put in that you use for the Flint? I’m not familiar with that area, but sounds like another great area to try sometime. I looked up the road name that you shared but couldn’t find a boat launch area on maps.

    Thank you!
