We swim with them down here. Oh sure they eat a few of us, but it isn’t like an everyday thing.
Maybe they will bite this one……

Bet ya don't let your dogs swim with them,I was fishing at Lake Talquin one time and a man and woman come back to the launch crying cause a gator had eaten their dog after it had jumped in the water

Time to get back to the lakes and creeks down this way. Not saying there may not be a few but I’ve not saw any and never heard of anyone that has. And I can catch fish here. Don’t know why I always want to go where I can’t.

Only thing that I’m real worried about is ending up in the water. Which happened just a few trips ago. Lol

As long as nobody starts feeding them, you won't have any issues. People fish and swim around gators all the time further south.

Fun Fact: We are in, albeit on the edge of, the native range of alligators. They were wiped out long ago, just like many of our other large predators (wolves, lions, bears, etc). So, they weren't introduced to Wheeler in the 70's. They were REintroduced. And it was done as a safeguard against extinction because, at that time, alligator populations were struggling in the US.

    Anyway, I like seeing them.

I like seeing them honestly. And I know there’s a 99% chance they aren’t gonna bother me. But I just can’t be comfortable and enjoy myself fishing that close.

Ive trolled towards them several times and even thought they like looking at you they always stayed at a nice distance even though I kept going towards them. I dont think they would bother you.
Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in hospitals dying of nothing.

I agree. It’s just a mind thing for me. I came up on a big one back in the fall without knowing it. He literally jumped off the bank in front of me and there’s no doubt in my mind he was as scared of me as I was him. He hauled butt well away from me before he came up. But I still can’t get it out of my mind. Lol
