    Default 8 mile skunk

Finally had a chance to go Friday. There several new spots I want to try but my weather app said wind gusts to 25 mph and 8 mile is my best spot to try and get out of the wind. Turned out to be the best wind day I’ve had in a while. I tried everything I know. Cast and retrieve. Jigged deep structure. Jigged shallower structure. Tried a spinner. Tried float and jig. Tried a Kentucky rig with a floating jig head, which I normally at least catch a couple small ones on there. Nothing. Other than an occasional hammering Gill and I couldn’t even get them stuck. Big balls of baitfish everywhere. Tried following them around and nothing. But it was a really nice day on the water anyway. Looking forward to my 2 week holiday vacation coming up. Hope to find a few then.

Sounds like you gave it a pretty good go at it. Always a blessing fish or no fish.

We've all been there, get a good fish finder and it's worse. You can watch the fish and not get them to bite, LOL! Some of my best fishing trips have been just before or as a cold front passes. They have also been some of my hardest days. Crappie can be some of the hardest fish to pattern.

I have found that to be true also regarding frontal passage.....also found that a few hours after passage, they seem to shut down for a couple of days...I used to find them deep at scottsboro, hugging bottom structure the day after the front and was usually able to get a few to bite with a super slow/slower than usual presentation.
