Default First long lining trip of the season

Got out Wednesday since I was off work and the temperature was above 0 degrees. Fished from 0630 to 1300. Only caught two crappie, but the bass were biting like they hadn’t eaten all winter. I did find a few places just outside some coves that had tons of fish around shad about 25 feet deep. Got home and rigged up some poles for spider rigging Incase they are still around Monday and I’m brave enough to fight the cold (sucks getting old).

I would consider that a very successful trip after all these conditions we been dealing with!

Congratulations on hauling some in and braving the temps we've had lately.

Man those spots are fun on the trolling gear, and can they ever tangle up a bunch of lines!! Good trip Jim. They all look healthy and really nice color! Should be a great year.

Yea, I’ve learned over the years that when I’m trolling and something big bites and I’m sure it’s not a crappie I just get the fish to the top of the water as fast as I can and bring it in as fast as I can so it can’t get into my o5her lines. Would rather lose it than untangle all the lines.

You catching any crappie up there. Hope this year is better than last. My worse year ever last year.
