Great job!! Yep now thats my kind of fishing! A couple of poles and some structure to cast to! Nothing like feeling that thump and yes you are dead on that if you feel it you better set it! LOL!
Went to Logan Martin Wed and had a limit by 8:30. Got there before dark so I went to a spot I was trolling over the day before and catching fish and decided to throw a road runner until the sun came up to start trolling. Before starting I put my poles in the road holders and let them hang a few inches in the water, set the spot lock on my i pilot and went to the back of the boat to cast the road runner. Now I don't know why, but I never have much luck doing this. I don't know how many times thru the years I've tried stopping over structure i find and try to cast to it, but i never have much luck.
Anyway I start casting and about the 3rd cast I feel a very slight tap on the line and set the hook and BOOM crappie. Caught one about every 10th cast for awhile. The fish were so aggressive that at one put I was putting a fish in the live well and looked up front and two of my poles were down and I only had the jigs about 2 inches into the water. Did learn with the casting though that you really had to pay attention and set the hook as soon as you felt that little tap. If I felt the weight of the fish before the tap i would lose it.
Well once the sun came up I decided to start trolling and that once I got a limit I would stop and cast for awhile. Well had a limit by 8:30 and then stayed on same spot until 10 casting and culling some of the little ones I caught trolling. It was a blast. I went to another spot at 10:30 but the wind with really blowing hard so I packed it in.
Keeping thinking about one of lwarren@reddyice post about learning how to troll but couldn't help himself about going back to structure fishing. I know what he means now. I had a blast. As a matter of fact i'm going again Friday and I'm only bringing two poles to force my self to get better at it.
Well water temps hit 64 in some spots I was trolling and today a black jig head with a black and chartreuse body did best.
Oh and by the way you people need to start posting what your doing and catching etc..... I know there is a lot more fishing going on that what is showing up on here. GET WITH THE PROGRAM

I am guilty....I have been a few times and not posted! I don't want folks to think I am boasting by posting so much! I caught 125 last trip on Neely and have not been as much due to my dad being sick and having surgery! I will get back at it soon! I got tournament tomorrow and will probably have trouble catching seven to weigh....thats what happens when I try to compete! Grrrrrrrrr!
An ungrateful man is like hog under a tree eating acorns, but never looking up to see where they come from!
Hah, it dont matter how you catch them you always wonder how everybody else is doing. Congrats, Im slowly trying other methods but sitting on a rockpile or brushpile catching one after another has its advantages...
Tried it today and caught ten before the sun came up then it went dead. Yea wish more people would post what they are doing on Logan Martin. See a lot of boats but no reports
Is there still a limit on Crappie?
