    Default Crappie movement?

Last Spring was my first year actually targeting crappie. I caught some at a small lake right up against the bank during their spawn. The water was really shallow four foot or less. I'm wondering if the crappie that I caught shallow came from the deep water that was closest to them, or did they travel some distance before they decided to get in that little pocket of shallow water? Any info you guys want to relay over would be great. I'm trying to get a game plan as to where I'm going to drop these trees.

It,s my guess that they was cover there they should be back this year. We fish the ledges at Guntersville what i do is find a point where you have water that goes from shallow to deep fast then drop my trees, pvc,or bamboo usually in say 5 to 12 foot of water. That being said i also backed off in the deeper water 40 foot and dropped a couple i catch fish off of both:D Best i can figure crappie use the creeks & channels like roads they follow the roads in the spring time to the shallows to spawn then follow them back out in the fall, winter to deeper water. The bridges are also good spots to ambush a few. I expect that this year at Guntersville they will be several fish over the 3# range we,re going to get fired back up about the second week in febuary hope this helps & good luck this year...Tags.
