I received my new Major Craft Finetail X Mountain Stream 54UL rod late yesterday. The package , this time , looked even worse than before . Major. Raft must make durable rods , as both of mine survived the shipping nightmares. I paired it up with an old Shimano Symetre 500 because I thought the green would match the green color on the lower...

One of a few man made reservoirs in Florida. The place is alive with wildlife. It's a dam the guberment made to create a barge canal across the state which was never finished. It's actually up the lake from me, up the Ocklawaha river which runs through Lake Griffin and flows North. It's kinda a barrier between my waters, and the Atlantic...

He and I snuck out this afternoon and hit the beds I found yesterday afternoon. There weren't nearly the numbers I expected and that could be from someone maybe picking them off this morning or who knows? Anyway, we pulled up and my son actually spotted this fish through his polarized glasses. It was behind the boat motor! After hooking this...

I thinking of gluing my 1” curly tails onto my tungsten jigheads . They seem to get pulled down the hook more than trout magnets do . Thinking of wrapping the shank with tying thread and adding a drop of super glue before slipping the body on the hook . Anybody do this ? Looking for suggestions for super glue brands to use . Is this...

While fishing with 870 last Sunday, we made tentative plans to fish another of his sweet spots on Thursday after work. We were able to make that happen and launched just before 5pm. We knew it was going to be breezy but somebody cranked up the wind machine from "breeze" to "Cat. 1 Hurricane" and 870 had his hands full trying to control the boat...

Just curious. Do you primarily twitch your jigs or swim them back ? I love twitching a trout magnet but recently I’ve been somewhat successful swimming a 1” curly tail. I go through phases .

needed to go to LSL to check out my pontoon and make sure cover was secure so of course had to do a little dock dipping. Called neighbor Ben and he came down to join in the fun. couple of weeks ago the dinks were out in force around dock and were in their Tuxedo's so wanted to see if they still were. KABOOM happened from first dip as they sure...

cevans replied to a thread Cranking Lemon 5-2-24 in Indiana
Best way to tell you at what depth to run the crankbaits, is check your electronics and where your seeing fish at the depth, run the cranks. With Lemon, I like running them about a foot or 2 above the bottom at this time of the year. I will stagger one at a medium depth of where I am seeing fish depth on electronics.

In the past, I made tin jigs to get a larger profile. Inexpensive and easy trial to make tin jigs is to get round tin split shots in desired size and super glue/pinch them onto jig hooks. These can also be powder painted and eyes can be applied to the flat sides created by plier crimping. Not sure and have never seen an aluminum split shot but...
