Today, 12:12 AMIf one is good; is two better? Recently, I was in the boat with the crappie fishing team of Jerry Vanderpool and Jim Clary during the National Crappie League tournament on Lake of the Ozarks. These two anglers were using two Garmin LiveScope units utilizing two units with forward facing sonar. Vanderpool and Clary have a unique setup for the front...0 replies | 4 view(s)

Yesterday, 09:00 PMWorking for a Japanese auto manufacturer, I get to go to Japan every once in a while for training for early prototype builds. Then every once in a while, someone that I know actually gets an assignment in the US, which is the case this time.4 replies | 36 view(s)

Yesterday, 12:13 AMGot a call from 870 this morning asking if I had any interest in joining him for an impromptu fishing trip today. Weather was iffy here at home (it would soon clear and be a nice day)but I said yes anyway and headed his way. And what a trip it turned out to be! After a few last minute adjustments, (and we almost chose not to bring the cooler!) we...5 replies | 42 view(s)

04-30-2024, 05:38 AMTeaching your Grandson how to fish before He fishes FFS is a job well done. It is so much easier to teach someone how to catch Crappie if their attention in on the rod & presentation. Put them in a boat with FFS after learning then they are dangerous to eating size Crappie population.6 replies | 87 view(s)

04-30-2024, 05:32 AMBack in 2015, I flew to Japan during the crappie spawn to train for my current job, and the person who lead my training and gave me my certification exam is current in the US for 4 years. We kept in touch over the years, and we finally had a chance to go fishing all day on Tuesday. I took him to Ross Barnett Reservoir for his first bass boat...4 replies | 36 view(s)

04-29-2024, 06:52 AMThat's how you do it! spending time with your grandson made you the winner from getgo. I don't have a problem with LS in general use but in tournaments I don't think they should be allowed. Congrats on the finish and the fun. Buddy of mine and the guru on my home lake won a tournament while fishing from shore and docks and beat 30 teams who...6 replies | 87 view(s)

04-29-2024, 04:07 AMJosiah and myself did a tourney with the Richmond Crappie Club today and took a 3rd place win. 7 fish 7.40 lb bag weight. While this may not seem too impressive, consider this: 19 boats, 17 of which had foward facing sonar (livescope, mega imaging). I did not. Some really good fishermen coming from as far as nc to attend. Winning bag was 8.31. 2nd...6 replies | 87 view(s)
