Today, 12:38 AMHe and I snuck out this afternoon and hit the beds I found yesterday afternoon. There weren't nearly the numbers I expected and that could be from someone maybe picking them off this morning or who knows? Anyway, we pulled up and my son actually spotted this fish through his polarized glasses. It was behind the boat motor! After hooking this...3 replies | 32 view(s)

05-03-2024, 04:12 PMI've tried a lot of different rods and lengths over the years and wound up with Sam Heaton SS 12 footers as by far my favorite.3 replies | 55 view(s)

05-03-2024, 12:43 AMJust how long a fishing rod do you need to go crappie fishing with? First you have to answer what technique you are using to catch your crappie. While shorter fishing rods are better for accurate casting a longer rod is normally used when forward facing sonar fishing. Fishing poles have changed over the years from 2,000 B.C. even earlier in...3 replies | 55 view(s)

05-02-2024, 03:47 PMTo answer the question in the last paragraph with one word. Yes. Personally I don't think live scope should be allowed in tournaments. There are a lot of fishermen out there that would love to fish tournaments but can't afford a live scope. And without it they don't stand a very good chance of winning. Just my opinion.3 replies | 74 view(s)

05-02-2024, 02:59 AMGood read. I thought most of the tournament guys were using two units. Portable units we have seen here on cdc for awhile now. Quick search here will give you several good portable builds if interested.3 replies | 74 view(s)

05-02-2024, 12:12 AMIf one is good; is two better? Recently, I was in the boat with the crappie fishing team of Jerry Vanderpool and Jim Clary during the National Crappie League tournament on Lake of the Ozarks. These two anglers were using two Garmin LiveScope units utilizing two units with forward facing sonar. Vanderpool and Clary have a unique setup for the front...3 replies | 74 view(s)

05-01-2024, 09:00 PMWorking for a Japanese auto manufacturer, I get to go to Japan every once in a while for training for early prototype builds. Then every once in a while, someone that I know actually gets an assignment in the US, which is the case this time.5 replies | 63 view(s)

05-01-2024, 12:13 AMGot a call from 870 this morning asking if I had any interest in joining him for an impromptu fishing trip today. Weather was iffy here at home (it would soon clear and be a nice day)but I said yes anyway and headed his way. And what a trip it turned out to be! After a few last minute adjustments, (and we almost chose not to bring the cooler!) we...5 replies | 87 view(s)

04-30-2024, 05:38 AMTeaching your Grandson how to fish before He fishes FFS is a job well done. It is so much easier to teach someone how to catch Crappie if their attention in on the rod & presentation. Put them in a boat with FFS after learning then they are dangerous to eating size Crappie population.6 replies | 105 view(s)
