Not sure if they are in Somerville, but most striped fish have a pretty strong fishy flavor. Last sand bass I brought home was the last one to ever visit my house….
My wife took a bite and said WHAT kinda fish is that one , I said sand bass and she said do not bring anymore home to our house please

Yellow bass are definitely fun to catch on light tackle. In my opinion they do have a stronger fishy taste but if you catch a few bigger ones (9-12 inches) try soaking the filets or whole with bones in a little water/buttermilk mixture for a few hours. Rinse, lightly season and fry them crispy...taste pretty good.
