    Default Live bluegills for Stripes?

I use em for big cats, but I saw a video of a guy targeting Stripers and using bluegills... Anyone else do that?

Used to do that on Norris lake at night for rockfish. Catch bluegill in a farm pond then hook them on a large white doll fly Drop it to about a foot off the bottom of the lake and wait, usually all night. Question came up the other day if is actually legal to do that with bluegill I haven't checked that out for here in Tennessee but you might want to check it out for MS. Some states it isn't legal to use a game fish for bait

Guides use them in CA Delta's,for sure. Pretty hardy and last longer than minnows. Usually use 3 way dropper rig over sliding sinker. Small treble stinger hook really helps, also.

I know they were used for stripers in South Carolina years back. I think fisherman had to catch the bluegill by hook and line in order to be legally used a bait. Here in Florida some people will use them for largemouth bass and big cats, but they also have to be caught by hook and line first, not netted.
Pass the "Sportsman Baton" on before you're gone, promote values for others to hunt and fish upon.

I can always catch plenty of them... Just never put one down there in front of a Striper... YET!

If I could get shad, or herring, that would be my preferred bait. I hooked one years ago on a small crappie but lost it. I'm sure with the striper being a predator that he'd eat the brim.

    Yes, smaller ones work.

As the others have stated, yes the small ones do work and work well at times. Be careful with the local laws, as they are considered gamefish and must be caught on a hook before they can be kept for bait (at least in NC anyway).
