Yesterday, we were headed to a bridge to catch crappie. We ran into a massive school of stripers just before getting to the bridge. Probably within 100 feet of the bridge and going all the way to the edge of the bridge. All we had were crappie jigs. It took a little finessing, but they did hit them fairly well.

longear sunfish are really good striper baits , I cut my teeth on stripers way back when and even trained a few striper guides using bream for bait . bluegill are not near as tough or frisky as a long ear . I have used a live long ear on more than one striper before and that never happens with bluegill .
and the upside to a long ear as a live bait is it loses its mind right before the striper takes it and the rods goes to jumping and twitching lots right before the striper hits ……
and on a final note ….its also lots of fun to ketch your bait along the shore with light tackle before you head out .
sum kawl me tha outlaw ketchn whales
