    Default Waters near decent camping?

The past year or two I have developed quite an appreciation for the beauty of West Virginia as I have made camping trips coming from Virginia. I was mostly around the New River or up higher in the Monongahela mountains. I didn't come across any crappie waters, or at least didn't realize I was near any bodies of water that I should consider coming back to fish some time. Any suggestions for decent crappie waters, preferably in the central to eastern side of WV and has nearby camping? I fish from a kayak.

Statts Mill Campground and cabins. Gives you access to three lakes. Sets on Obrian Lake. Killer crappie fishing. Nice private setting, boat ramp next door. StattsMillsRVpark.net

Thanks. I looked that up and don't see a lake? Is Mill Creek a river or is it dammed up and they call it a lake?

You are correct. O'Brien Lake is the Dam up section of Mill creek. It's not wide by any means, but lots of standing timber and cover to hold crappie. The Dam 38.755436, -81.646092. Public Ramp/ Campground 38.742151, -81.626096 If your familiar with MSKA tournaments, this is one of their Bass lakes as well.

Stonewall Jackson Lake (some standing timber left and lots of coves/no wake areas to avoid go fast boats and jet skis) or Stonecoal Lake (10 hp motor limit) in Lewis County . Broken Wheel Campground or Stonewall Resort.

Burnsville Lake in Braxton County. Bull Town or Riffle Run Campground.

Sutton Lake in Braxton County. Bakers Run Campground.

All of the above are accessible via Rt 48/ Rt 33 west through Elkins or via Rt 19 north from Beckley/Summersville
